The youngest actor since Marlon Brando to achieve three Oscar nominations for Best Actor is the true favorite for 2026
He has come very close to breaking the record, as there are only a few weeks' difference between their ages at the time of receiving their third nomination.
The 2026 Oscars will be held on March 15 and anticipation is at a fever pitch, with everyone eager to find out which films, directors, actors and actresses will leave the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood with a statuette in hand. There are plenty of names in the mix, and one of the most prominent is Timothée Chalamet, who will compete for the Best Actor Oscar thanks to his work in Marty Supreme. But not every achievement takes the form of a tangible prize. Some of the most notable ones often go unnoticed, such as the fact that he is the youngest actor to receive three Best Actor nominations since Marlon Brando.
2018, 2025 and 2026. Those are the years in which Timothée Chalamet earned Best Actor Oscar nominations, for Call Me by Your Name, A Complete Unknown and Marty Supreme, respectively. The American actor can boast that he has amassed those nominations at just 30 years old, something only Marlon Brando had achieved before him thanks to his work in A Streetcar Named Desire (1952), Viva Zapata! (1953) and Julius Caesar (1954).
As an interesting footnote, Marlon Brando received his three nominations when he was 29 years and 10 months old, so he still had several weeks to go before turning 30. Chalamet, for his part, did it at 30 years and 26 days old, meaning he came very, very close to breaking the record. That said, he still has a long way to go to match Brando’s awards haul. Brando picked up four more nominations and won two Best Actor Oscars between 1955 and 1974 thanks to On the Waterfront (winner), Sayonara, The Godfather (winner) and Last Tango in Paris.
