The ‘Beautiful’ singer, who has more than 14 million views on YouTube, died after a night out with friends.
The meteoric rise of K-Pop in recent years continues to solidify the genre’s presence on the global stage, reflecting the increasing influence of Asian countries, especially South Korea, in the West. Many faces form part of the cast of leading singers who delight millions of listeners. However, in recent months, fans have witnessed a wave of deaths of some of these stars, the latest being Park Boram.
The death of the 30-year-old artist has been a shock within South Korea as well as further afield. The exact cause of death is still under investigation, but her passing allegedly occurred after a night with friends during which it is reported that alcohol consumption was excessive.
K-Pop’s Park Boram dies in hospital
Adding to the story of her passing, information from the Korea Herald reveals that the young artist passed away on Thursday at a hospital. She had been transported to the medical facility with the hope of saving her life after, the say, collapsing at the home of one of the friends she had been out with that night.
The chronicle unfolded as follows: Park’s friend entered the bathroom and found her unconscious on the sink. He alerted everyone present to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation, but it was in vain. When she arrived at the hospital, her death had to be pronounced. One of the main theories points to cardiac arrest, but for now, until the results of several medical and forensic reports are obtained, it remains a hypothesis.
Park’s agency, Xanadu Entertainment, confirmed the news through a statement issued by AllKPop. “We are here to share sorrowful and heartbreaking news. Park Bo Ram suddenly passed away late at night on April 11. All of the artists and executives at Xanadu Entertainment are deeply mourning the deceased with great sadness. It is even more heartbreaking that we have to tell you this sudden news to all of the fans who support Park Bo Ram.
“The funeral will be held after consulting with the bereaved’s family. Once again, we send our deepest condolences to the deceased so she may rest in peace.”
Boram’s leap to fame was worldwide and instantaneous. After appearing on several South Korean reality shows, she made her debut with “Beautiful,” which now has over 14,000,000 views on YouTube alone. Then came the nominations, awards, and other work in the industry that are now stranded, like orphaned musical notes.
