The date of July 11 2024 marked a total of 25 years since the first American Pie movie was released on screens across the world. Since then, it has gone on to become a classic comedy film, with the jokes still hitting as hard as they did back in 1999.

The teen comedy generated over $200 million and it has become a franchise in itself, with the story that focused on a group of high school seniors making a pact to lose their virginity before their graduation proving to be an immortal piece of art for fans.

Given the anniversary of the film, AS USA have taken a look at where the cast are now and how they got on after the movie...

Jason Biggs

Jason Biggs playing the role of Jim Levenstein, an awkward nerd, was his big break in the world of film. After the success of the initial movie, he starred in the three sequels. Following American Pie, he was cast in Woody Allen’s romantic comedy Anything Else, as well as various other big screen projects. In 2012, he reprised the role of Levenstein in American Reunion.

Biggs voiced Leonardo in Nickelodeon’s animated series Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and also featured in Orange is the New Black for Netflix. As well as this, he has had various appearances in plays on Broadway.

Alyson Hannigan

Michelle Flaherty, the main love interest in the film, remains to this day one of Hannigan’s most recognisable roles throughout her career. From American Pie for which she was nominated for a Young Hollywood Award and three Teen Choice Awards, she went on to star in all the sequels.

However, her work as Lily Aldrin in the series How I Met Your Mother, which ran from 2005 until 2014, is regarded as her finest work, and she won two People’s Choice Awards for that role.

Sean William Scott

The only one of the main characters who was not a virgin, Sean William Scott was cast as Steve Stifler in American Pie. The jock appeared in American Pie 2American Wedding, and American Reunion before moving onto other things such as Dude, Where’s My Car?, Final Destination and The Dukes of Hazzard. He was also cast as Wesley Cole in the Lethal Weapon series in a role that ran from 2018 to 2019.

Younger readers may recognise his voice as Crash in the Ice Age franchise, as the twin opossum.

Jennifer Coolidge

Jeanine Stifler was Jennifer Coolidges big break in film back in 1999. The actor came back for American Pie 2, American Wedding and American Reunion and then went on to a super career, most notably being cast in Legally Blonde before winning two Emmys and a Golden Globe for her role as Tanya McQuoid in the series The White Lotus.

Thomas Ian Nicholas

The leader of the group, Kevin Myers was trying to lose his virginity to his girlfriend Vicky. Thomas Ian Nicholas portrayed the youngster. He has not had the same stellar career as the aforementioned actors, but an appearance in Grey’s Anatomy and a role in The Rules of Attraction is no small feat.

In 2008, Nicholas released his debut albumWithout Warning before coming back with a follow-up album, Without Warning Acoustic, just a year later. Since then, he has released a total of three albums, with his single “My Generation” even featuring on the American Reunion soundtrack.

Chris Klein

Chris “Oz” Ostreicher was played by Chris Klein, the lacrosse player with an overconfidence issue. We saw him return for American Pie 2 and American Reunion and since then he has starred in films such as We Were Soldiers, Just Friends and American Dreamz and played the role of Cicada in the series The Flash.

Tara Reid

Now a name known all over the world, Vicky was Reid’s big break at the turn of the decade. After playing Stifler’s girlfriend, she went on to have a varied career with some success and some flops, with Sharknado being perhaps her most notable casting.

She came in eighth place during Celebrity Big Brother 8 and featured on the front of various magazine covers, such as Rolling Stone and Playboy, with her reality series Taradise a particular low point during this period.

Eugene Levy

Eugene Levy has made a career for himself in his own right without American Pie, but the comedy catapulted him to another level. He has starred in over 60 projects with Bringing Down the House and Cheaper by the Dozen 2 perhaps the most successful.

He also co-created the hit series Schitt’s Creek, winning a Primetime Emmy Award and a Screen Actors Guild Award.

Mena Suvari

Heather, the choir girl, was a breakthrough moment for Suvari who went on to have a fantastic career in both TV and film. On the small screen she featured in Chicago Fire, American Horror Story: Murder House, American Horror Story: Apocalypse and American Woman while on the big screen her casting in Sonny and Trauma are perhaps her most noteworthy.

Shannon Elizabeth

While Shannon Elizabeth was sent to new heights after portraying Nadia in American Pie, it was not her first acting role.

However, parts in Scary Movie, Night of the Demons and Love Actually would not have been possible without her fantastic acting in the 1999 comedy.

On TV, she appeared in That ‘70s Show and Dancing with the Stars, as well as working as a Maxim cover girl.
