Shakira and Karol G have finally announced an official release date for their newest song “TQG.”

When will ‘TQG’ be released?

The pair took to their social media and gave fans the answer they had been waiting for. Alongside a stunning photo of the two Colombian artists, the caption read “Sabemos que lo estaban esperando y aquí estamos! @KarolG x @Shakira TQG 24 de Febrero Barranquilla Medallo.”

Which translates to “We know you’ve been waiting for it and here we are! @KarolG x @Shakira TQG February 24 Barranquilla Medellín.”

The collaboration is part of Karol G’s album “Mañana Será Bonito”, which will be released on Friday, February 24 at 1:00 am ET.

What is ‘TQG’ about?

Both artists have made it clear that “TQG” stands for “Te quedó Grande”, which translates to “You were out of your depth.” Along with a few lyrics being leaked, it’s no surprise that this heated song is about both singers’ exes.

In the leaked lyrics Karol G refers to her ex Anuel AA saying: “At least with me I kept you looking nice.”

While Shakira sings: “You leaving to look for something to eat outdoors and me thinking it was the monotony.”

This isn’t the first time Shakira has taken swipes at her ex, Gerard Piqué. Back in January, the “Hips don’t lie” singer released a song with Argentine DJ Bizarrap comparing herself to Pique’s new girlfriend Clara Chia.

“I’m worth two 22s… You traded a Ferrari for a Twingo,” Shakira said.

In an interview with NY Times, Karol G explained that Shakira thought the song was perfect when she first heard it, saying: ‘Oh my God, thank you. Those lyrics are perfectly the way I feel right now.’

Karol G also hinted at what fans can expect from the collaboration saying Shakira would be “letting a lot of anger go” in the song.

More collaborations to come from Karol G

Although this may be one of the most anticipated collaborations from Karol G, the “El Barco” singer has many more planned for her future.

Her upcoming fourth studio album “Mañana Será Bonito” is set to release the same day as “TQG” and will also include multiple collaborations.

Some of the artists featured on the upcoming album include Quevedo, Carla Morrison, Sean Paul, Sech, Bad Gyal, Justin Quiles, and Angel Dior.

It also includes previous hits such as “Provenza,” “Cairo” with Ovy on the Drums, “Gatubela” featuring Maldy, and the Romeo Santos-assisted “X Si Volvemos.”
