Pedro Pascal teased fans before letting them know when filming for Season 2 will begin.

‘The Last of Us’ is currently one of the most popular shows on television. It’s proven to be a big hit for HBO, who have already confirmed the show will return for a second season.

When will ‘The Last of Us’ Season 2 start filming?

‘When We Are in Need’, the eighth episode in Season 1, will air on HBO and HBO Max on Sunday, March 5, with the season finale slated to air the following week on March 12.

Although star Pedro Pascal has been making the rounds for his other huge hit series, ‘The Mandalorian’, which returned for Season 3 on Disney+ on March 1, he was recently asked about Season 2 of ‘The Last of Us’.

Speaking with Collider, Pascal was asked whether filming for the season would begin in 2023.

“In the year 2023? Oh, what season are we in now? We’re getting into spring?,” Pascal responded, trying to find a way around the question.

He eventually did give an update, confirming that filming will begin in at some point in 2023: “Yes, there is a chance. Yes.”

As for what Season 2 holds in store, fans expect that the season will cover the second game of the video franchise, with game director and series co-creator Neil Druckmann hinting that would be the case with a tweet.

‘The Last of Us Part II’ is currently the last game in the franchise, but co-creator Craig Mazin said that “probably the amount of remaining story [in ‘The Last of Us: Part II’] would take us more than a season to tell.”

Will there be a third ‘The Last of Us’ game?

‘The Last of Us’ video game was released in 2013, with the sequel coming out in 2020. While a 2022 remake was also released, Druckmann stated that publisher Naughty Dog are under no obligation to make a third game.

“I know there’s a bunch of people wondering about The Last Of Us Part 3 and whether that will be a thing or not,” Druckmann told BuzzFeed.

“All I could say is, at Naughty Dog we’re very, very privileged that our publisher Sony has supported us every step of the way to follow our passions — meaning that just because something is successful, people think there’s all this pressure and we have to make a sequel. That’s not the case.”
