Shogun became the first non-English-language production to win Outstanding Drama Series at the Primetime Emmys on Sunday, as the hit show scooped four accolades at the 76th edition of the TV awards ceremony.

Set in 17th-century Japan, Shogun dominated the Emmys’ drama section. Stars Hiroyuki Sanada and Anna Sawai were named best actor and actress in a drama series, respectively, while Frederick E. O. Toye picked up the statuette for Outstanding Directing for a Drama Series. Including the Creative Arts Emmys, which took place a week ago, Shogun this year amassed 18 Emmys.

Which other shows were the big Emmy winners?

Shogun aside, two further series claimed four Emmys each on Sunday. Netflix’s Baby Reindeer was voted Outstanding Limited or Anthology Series, with its creator and star, Richard Gadd, best actor and best writing honours. Jessica Gunning was named Outstanding Supporting Actress.

Meanwhile, The Bear’s four-award haul was headlined by Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series, which went to Jeremy Allen White. Ebon Moss-Bachrach and Liza Colón-Zayas were voted best supporting actor and actress in the comedy section, respectively, and Christopher Storer won the Emmy for Outstanding Directing for a Comedy Series.

Among other major winners at LA’s Peacock Theater was Hacks, which landed three gongs, including Outstanding Comedy Series. And for her performance in True Detective: Night Country, Oscar winner Jody Foster claimed the first Emmy of her illustrious career, receiving the award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie.
