Sandra Hüller is a German actress born in 1978. She currently lives in Leipzig-Plagwitz, with her daughter, who was born in 2011. Her career spans film, theater, and television, but it’s her standout performances on the big screen last year that have made her one of the focal points of this 96th edition of the Academy Awards.

Although she may not have the same level of experience and recognition as some of her peers like Emma Stone, who has already clinched an Oscar, Hüller’s role in Justine Triet’s ‘Anatomy of a Fall’ earned her a nomination for Best Actress. However, this was not her only notable performance; she also appeared in “The Zone of Interest”. What’s remarkable is that both these films secured nominations for Best Picture.

What nominations did Sandra Hüller receive for Anatomy of a Fall and The Zone of Interest?

While both ‘Anatomy of a Fall’ and ‘The Zone of Interest’ received Best Picture nominations, Sandra Hüller only received an Academy Award nomination for Best Actress for ‘Anatomy of a Fall’, with no chance of an Oscar for playing Hedwig Höss, wife of Rudolf Höss, the commandant of the Auschwitz Concentration camp. However, she was nominated for both roles for the BAFTA Film Awards, although won neither.

For ‘Anatomy of a Fall’ she won a European Film Award for Best Actress and a César Award for Best Actress, in addition to a Golden Globe Award.

She is only the third German to be nominated for Best Actress at the Oscars, the first German actress since Luise Rainer in 1937.

About the Oscars

There’s no event in the realms of cinema, or the arts at large, that generates as much anticipation as the Academy Awards. Since their inception, these golden statuettes have become the most prestigious accolade one can receive in the industry, commanding the media spotlight in the weeks leading up to and on the day of the ceremony itself.

The Oscars gala, like other major events, transcends cinema to become a widely anticipated spectacle for audiences. It attracts global screen stars and hundreds of familiar faces from the celebrity world each year, including musicians—some of whom perform during the ceremony—athletes, and influencers.

The Academy Awards feature many categories, but a few stand out and garner particular curiosity among viewers and participants alike. Naturally, Best Picture is one of these, along with individual honors such as Best Actress. Will Sandra Hüller be taking home the coveted statuette on Sunday night?
