During her three-decade career, Shakira has established herself as a major musical icon. Indeed, the Colombian singer has become the third-most successful Latin artist of all time, behind only Gloria Estefan and Jennifer Lopez.

Shakira’s dating history: from Óscar Pardo to Piqué

Shakira’s first boyfriend was Óscar Pardo, a neighbour in her native Barranquilla, whom she dated when she was 13 and he was 15. At 17, she then became an item with Óscar Ulloa, who was by her side as she rose to stardom. Their relationship lasted for four years - and after their break-up, she wrote one of her most memorable songs: “Antología” (“Anthology”).

Months later, the singer had a short romance with Gustavo Gordillo, from the Colombian rock band Poligamia. A year on, Shakira began seeing the actor Osvaldo Ríos. After that relationship came to an end, she took up with the businessman Antonio de la Rúa in 2000.

During their long period together, De la Rúa even asked for her hand in marriage, but they never made it to the altar. In August 2011, they went their separate ways. Tracks such as “Día de Enero” (“Day in January”) and “Loba” (“She Wolf”) were inspired by the Argentinian.

After De la Rúa, Shakira moved on to her highest-profile relationship yet, when she met Spanish soccer star Gerard Piqué in 2010. They were a couple for 12 years, albeit they never married, and have two children together: Milan, 10, and Sasha, eight.

After Shakira and Piqué announced their separation in June 2022, he began a relationship with Clara Chía, an employee at his Kosmos production company.

Shakira, however, has not had a confirmed boyfriend.
