Ozzy Osbourne has died at the age of 76. After suffering with Parkinson’s for years, as well as dealing with the longer-term consequences of a 2019 fall, the Black Sabbath vocalist has said goodbye to a world that adored him.
The person who adored him the most was his wife, Sharon. A star in her own right, Sharon Osbourne carved out a career at the top of the celebrity world with appearances on television that turned her into a household name.
The Osbournes turned television on its head when it aired for the first time in 2002, showcasing the crazy life of an A-list celebrity family. It was her negotiations that reportedly brought the show to life, bringing her husband into the mainstream and reinventing television as we knew it.
Sharon went on to star in various reality TV shows before becoming a judge and mentor on the The X Factor from 2004 through to 2007.
She then joined America’s Got Talent, alongside Piers Morgan and David Hasselhoff. Again, she flitted from TV show to TV show, including a three-year stint on British daytime television with Loose Women, and a special appearance in long-time sci-fi show, Doctor Who.
Osbourne had a public spat with heavy metal band Iron Maiden, and their lead singer, Bruce Dickinson, during the 2005 Ozzfest tour. She allegedly cut off the PA system during their concert, and later admitted to having instructed people to throw eggs at the band.
At the time, she was quoted as saying ,“From day one, Bruce Dickinson started berating Ozzy and belittling the Ozzfest audience. He stated he ‘didn’t need a reality show to give him credibility;’ ‘We’re not just some fucking reunion band;’ and continuously complained about the sound system, saying that when he comes back to America, he’ll have a better one.”
And then, a whole 17 years later, Sharon reopened old wounds, saying “Bruce Dickinson is a fucking prick. Well, no, he’s not a prick because a prick’s nice. He’s a fucking asshole.. every night he would go onstage and say bad things about Ozzy... But the last gig was [just outside of] L.A. And I thought, ‘You motherfucker, now you’re gonna get it.’"
