Update:

MAGA supporters may have found yet another reason to boycott the Super Bowl after claims surfaced that halftime show headliner Bad Bunny plans to wear a dress for the duration of his performance.

A stylist who has worked with the rapper in the past told Radar Online that the Puerto Rican superstar’s outfit is intended as a “political thunderbolt disguised as couture,” while also serving as a tribute to queer icons from his home territory.

“He loves controversy. He lives to push envelopes,” the source added, with another warning that the NFL “has no idea what’s coming.”

Online backlash quickly follows

Needless to say, the revelation has not gone down well with everyone online, especially MAGA sympathizers, it seems.

“As if they couldn’t screw up their image more than they already have, now Bad Bunny is going to wear a dress in honor of queers and the LGBTQIALMNOP during the @NFL halftime show with Green Day? Kids don’t need to see that c--p!!! If anyone isn’t ok with kids seeing this but still watches games, where is your line in the sand? What will it take for everyone to shut them off and say ENOUGH?!” wrote “MagaMom” on X.

Another offended party backed her up.

As if the Super Bowl halftime show couldn’t get any worse, Bad Bunny is planning on wearing a dress to ‘honor queers.’ If you weren’t planning already, you should boycott the halftime show. Shame on you @nflcommish for allowing this nonsense.”

“This is exactly why I’m skipping the game this year. The NFL went full woke, picked a guy who’s turning the biggest football stage into a pride parade. Football used to be about touchdowns, not drag tributes. Who’s with me? Boycotting the halftime show, or the whole thing?” lamented another.

NFL defends its choice after Trump criticism

At the end of September last year, the NFL announced that Bad Bunny would headline the Super Bowl LX halftime show.

Since then, the league has faced widespread criticism from people of a certain political persuasion, including comments from President Donald Trump, who called the choice “ridiculous.” White House adviser Corey Lewandowski also criticized the league for selecting an artist who “seems to hate America so much to represent them in the halftime show.”

Bad Bunny has not publicly expressed any “hatred” of the United States, though he felt forced to cancel part of his U.S. tour due to concerns over immigration enforcement by Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

“He’s one of the most prominent and popular entertainers in the world,” NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell told reporters while defending the decision. “That’s what we’re trying to accomplish. He’s an important stage for us. He’s a key element of entertainment. It’s very carefully thought out.”
