The iconic singer-songwriter is in Paris for the opening night of the European leg of the Eras Tour.
After sell-out shows in the US, South America and Asia, Europe is the next destination on the record breaking Eras Tour as Taylor Swift, flush from the success of the recently released The Tortured Poets Department embarks on 51 shows across the continent.
The concerts commence with a four night run in Paris on 9 May and will then take in countries such as Germany, Sweden, Italy, Portugal, Spain and the UK.
A five night spell at a sold out Wembley Stadium will bring the curtain down at the end of August before the 34-year-old takes a break before heading back on the road in Canada in November.
New repertoire from TTPD?
Global expectation was sky-high last month Swift released her eleventh studio album ‘The Tortured Poets Department’.
The album, initially a 16 track piece of work was quickly augmented with Swift confirming a further 15 tracks would be released as part if the TTPD Anthology.
The reaction for the new record was in large positive and inevitably, the impact saw existing records tumble as Swift tied level with Madonna as the female artist with the most No. 1 albums in UK history with the Pennsylvania born singer already boasting 11 albums topping the UK albums chart.
Streaming giant Spotify also confirmed that the new album eclipsed the previous record for most streams in a single day with over 300 million streams in a single day with Swift became the most-streamed artist in a single day in Spotify history.
The 40,000 fans packed into Paris’ La Défense Arena are on tenterhooks in anticipation that repertoire from the new release gets a first live airing.
The first part of the Paris show has seen the singer-songwriter remain true to the Eras tour format with batches of songs from her eleven studio albums (Fearless, Red....).
Well into her set, Swift finally delighted fans playing tracks from Tortured Poets Department live for the very first time.
But Daddy I Love Him, So High School, Who’s Afraid of Little Old Me, Down Bad (mashed up with Fortnight) and The Smallest Man who Ever Lived were all performed in Paris and will certainly be firm fixtures for the remaining dates of the tour as it crosses the continent.
