Monthly Social Security checks: How much will be sent in 2023?

Thanks to the 8.7% cost-of-living adjustment increase, average retiree payments rose to about $1,827, the SSA revealed in January.

The maximum benefit for those who retire at 62 years old is $2,572. Workers who retire at full retirement age (67) can receive a maximum benefit of $3,627 per month, and those who retire at age 70 and beyond have a maximum benefit of $4,555.

As for the average payments of recipients of Supplemental Security Income, these are around $600. The maximum SSI benefit is $914 per month for an individual and $1,371 for a married couple where both spouses are eligible for the program.

However, payments are calculated individually and vary from one beneficiary to another. Here is how beneficiary payments are calculated and how they are affected by age.
