Jamie Lee Curtis wins the 2023 Best Supporting Actress Oscar award

Jamie Lee Curtis has won the 2023 Best Supporting Actress Oscar award for ‘Everything Everywhere All at Once’.

The 64-year-old beat out the likes of Hong Chau, who was nominated for ‘The Whale’, Kerry Condon for ‘The Banshees of Inisherin’, Angela Bassett for ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’ and Stephanie Hsu for ‘Everything Everywhere All at Once’.

Curtis’ win comes after Bassett took home honors at the Critics Choice and Golden Globe Awards. However, wins by Condon at the BAFTAs and Curtis at the SAGs meant this category was anything but a foregone conclusion heading into Sunday.

Having come to prominence on the ABC sitcom ‘Operation Petticoat’, Curtis made her feature film debut in the slasher classic, ‘Halloween’. Roles in ‘The Fog’, ‘Prom Night’, ‘Terror Train’ and ‘Roadgames’ helped establish her as a scream queen.

Since then here work has expanded into other genres, including comedies like ‘Trading Places’ and ‘A Fish Called Wanda’, which earned her a BAFTA nomination. She also picked up a Golden Globe award for her role in James Cameron’s ‘True Lies’ in 1994.

However, it is Curtis’ performance as IRS inspector Deirdre Beaubeirdre that helped her land her first Academy Award nomination and win.
