Apple smashes the competition with iPhone 16e: never-before-seen battery and insane price no one expected

For lovers of the iPhone SE lineup, the iPhone 16e is Apple’s latest offering for those looking for a smaller but powerful device. The iPhone 16e is part of the larger family of devices that are the latest to be released by Apple. All of the devices in the lineup feature Apple Intelligence and the A18 chip for improved performance.

The latest device to the iPhone 16 collection was announced by Apple on Wednesday, February 19.

Improved battery in the new iPhone 16e

The iPhone 16e is more affordable than the iPhone 16, but when it comes to the specs, they are very similar to the more expensive model. The battery life on the 16e is unprecedented, with Apple saying it is capable of up to 26 hours of video playback, just short of the 27 hours advertised for the iPhone 16. That one-hour difference will save you a couple of hundred bucks, with the 16e retailing for $599.

The battery has also improved compared to the previous iPhone SE model, which was advertised as able to play 15 hours of video playback. However, the third-generation SE model sold for $429, meaning customers of the 16e will be paying a bit more for the updated model.

Pre-order for the device, which will be available in two matte finishes — black and white — begin on Friday, February 21. For those looking to test it out instore before buying, you’ll have your chance starting on February 28.
