Update:

The Schwarzenegger household has welcomed a new member. Schnelly, the pet pig’s name is derived from the German word, Chnell, which means fast. Schwarzenegger is not new to non-traditional pets, with a donkey and miniature horse also found on his property.

Not the first pig brought home by Schwarzenegger

This is not the movie star turned politician’s first pet pig. His first, named Max, was purchased in 2014 after starring in the film ‘Batman & Robin’ alongside George Clooney (another famous pig owner). The Austrian actor has credited Clooney with convincing him that pigs make great pets.

However, Schwarzenegger thought that the cute little pig would stay teacup size and was surprised when the animal grew to weigh more than three hundred pounds. He told the Columbus Dispatch, “I must’ve bought the wrong one because, in no time, it was 300 pounds, and I could barely lift the son of a gun.”

The problems with the teacup pig market

The former governor of California is not the only person to purchase a pig thinking that it would stay small enough to hold comfortably. Teacup picks, as they are misleadingly called, start out as small little things but can grow to weigh as much as 200 pounds. It’s worth noting that certain vendors may market their pigs as being of a smaller breed, despite actually belonging to a larger one. Given the size of Schwarzenegger’s pig Max, it’s possible that the actor fell for any deceptive advertising tactics.
