Bad news for Youtube TV subscribers: This is the new price starting in January 2025
YouTube TV’s more than eight million subscribers will receive a higher bill beginning next month, as the popular streaming service hikes its prices.
Eight million YouTube TV subscribers will be welcoming the new year with a higher bill from the streaming service.
Starting Jan. 13, 2025, existing clients will need to pay $82.99 a month, a $10 increase from the previous price of $72.99. According to the service, new subscribers will be billed the new price if they sign up today.
Customers who are paying a discounted rate will be charged the new price once their promotion or trial runs out.
YouTube TV cited “rising content costs” as the reason for the price hike.
“We don’t make these decisions lightly, and we realize this impacts our members,” according to a post on X.
The live TV streaming service admits they may lose subscribers due to the move, and provides this link for those who may want to pause or cancel their subscription.

The rising cost of YouTube TV
YouTube TV was launched in 2017 and quickly gained recognition as one of Google’s top products. Technology news website CNET once called it “the best live TV streaming service overall.”
Subscribers received access to the biggest number of channels among streaming services for an initial subscription cost of $35 a month.
The Alphabet-owned service hiked its price two years later to $50, 43% higher than its introductory offering. YouTube TV has since continued to implemented price increases, the last of which took effect in March last year, when the base cost reached $72.99 per month.
The video giant is the latest streaming service to raise its prices this year, and its new cost brings it even with the $82.99 price tag of Disney’s Hulu + Live TV bundle.
