Bank of America has closed hundreds of bank branches nationwide this year. But at the same time, it has opened new locations in an attempt to meet the demand of its customers better. However, with fewer locations, members may have to drive a greater distance to cover their banking needs or face longer lines. Bank of America is not alone. Chase has also closed over a hundred locations, but the organization has also opened nearly the same number.
The data comes from the Office of the Comptroller of Currency, with banks required to submit the establishment of any locations to the agency before they are opened. Forty branches have opened this year, with Ohio (11) seeing the most significant number of new locations.
