A new fire ignited on Friday afternoon in Mission Viejo, south of where many of the other devastating fires have broken out this week. Unlike the others, the Club Fire is impacting Orange County, with the origin of the blaze placed on the 28800 block of Escalona Drive in Mission Viejo.

Already, less than an hour after igniting, crews have stopped the forward progress of the fire.

Signs are positive so far

No evacuation orders were issued, and crews have been called in to begin their response, according to Watch Duty, which tracks fires in real-time.

A staff writer for Duty Watch, Michael Silvester, reported around 15 minutes ago that the fire was around fifty by fifty feet and that there are "light-medium fuels" in the area that should slow the rate of spread and keep the fire under three to four acres. Homes in the area are "50-75 [feet] away from houses per radio traffic," overheard by Silvester.

On X, an account reported that 150 firefighters were responding to the blaze that is very close to the Arroyo Trabuco Golf Course.

According to the Orange County Fire Authority, a total of 49 units were deployed to combat the Club Fire, and so far, it appears that first responders have protected structures most at risk in the area.
