Costco senior discount in 2025: does it exist...or are there any advantages for seniors?

Many shoppers are looking for ways to save money at the grocery store. While February saw no overall increase in grocery prices, many food staples remain significantly more expensive than they were a year ago.

Eggs are the most striking example, with prices surging more than 58% since February 2024. Other essentials, such as meat (+3.89%) and milk (+1.46%), have also seen price increases. Inflation is particularly tough on seniors, many of whom live on fixed incomes and have limited options to boost their earnings to keep pace with rising costs.

Recently, rumors have circulated online about a senior citizen discount for Costco members. However, the company does not offer such a program—seniors save the same as any other shopper. A standard Costco membership costs $65 per year, and for those who can buy in bulk, it may be a worthwhile way to stretch their grocery budget.

Costco did make changes to operations to support senior members during the pandemic

During the pandemic, Costco did alter its operating hours to give those over sixty time to shop without the rest of the public. This allowed those most vulnerable to the virus to grocery shop with fewer people, reducing the risk of transmitting or becoming infected with the virus.
