Update:

Elon Musk never fails to make waves with his bold worldview and predictions. His latest concern? Electricity. The billionaire suggested we could soon face an imminent energy crisis. In fact, he spoke of a potential phase of energy instability resulting from increasing electricity demand—driven by three main forces: artificial intelligence, the expansion of electric vehicles, and the development of cryptocurrencies. He made these remarks during his appearance at Bosch Connected World in Berlin, Germany.

AI was the first factor referenced by the Tesla, X, and SpaceX CEO.

“It doubles its capabilities every six months. No technology has ever advanced this fast,” he said, emphasizing the surge in energy consumption required to power AI systems.

But that wasn’t the only area of concern. The rise of artificial intelligence is not only increasing energy consumption but also fueling the need to build new data centers. Musk also addressed the accelerating market of electric vehicles, with China leading in sales.

Solutions to prevent the crisis

For this reason, Musk outlined his roadmap in order to present a plan to prevent an energy imbalance that could lead to an unprecedented crisis. His proposal included measures such as reinforcing electrical infrastructure to meet current demand and making a strong commitment to renewable energy, such as wind and solar power.

Not only that, he also warned of the need to promote new energy storage and efficiency technologies. In this regard, he pointed to the lack of essential components like transformers and voltage reducers.
