One of the first casualties as new president takes control at the White House, chef José Andrés hits back at Trump.

Spanish chef José Ramón Andrés Puerta, better known simply as José Andrés was one of the first individuals to be dismissed from his White House role by new president Donald Trump earlier this week.

A well-known TV chef and restaurateur and famous for his humanitarian work, the 55-year-old was drafted in to D.C. back in 2022 by former president Joe Biden as co-chair of the President’s Council on Sports, Fitness, and Nutrition.

Soon after Trump’s return to the Oval Office, however, the Spaniard - who also holds American citizenship, was informed by Trump via a social media message that his services would no longer be required with a “You’re Fired” message via Trump’s Truth Social platform.

The Asturian replied to the Trump message with a post on X (Twitter) claiming that his term was already up and the celebrity chef had already resigned last week.

As part of his riposte to Trump, the chef encouraged that the new president focus on nutrition and good health for all Americans, as ‘nonpartisan’ issues.

The Spaniard added: “May God give you the wisdom, Mr. President, to put politics and name calling aside…and instead lift up the everyday people working to bring America together. Let’s build longer tables…."
