Free Taco Bell Tuesdays in August: Where and how to get your free Doritos Locos Tacos
Taco Bell is celebrating the liberation of ‘Taco Tuesday’ by giving away free tacos. Find out how you can get your hands on a free Doritos Locos Taco.
“Taco Tuesday” is a phrase that has become popular in the United States to refer to a promotion or event where tacos are offered at a discounted price or featured on a menu on Tuesdays.
The concept of Taco Tuesday has been widely embraced by various restaurants and food establishments, and has become a part of American pop culture. However, the phrase itself was trademarked years ago by the Mexican fast food chain Taco John’s.
Taco Bell campaigns to ‘free’ Taco Tuesday
Taco Bell began a petition earlier this year to ask the chain to release the trademark, saying that the phrase should be freely used by anyone who wants to make, sell, eat, and celebrate tacos.
Last month, the phrase was finally liberated by Taco John’s, which decided to drop its trademark ownership of “Taco Tuesday” that it had enjoyed since 1989.

To celebrate the momentous event and to thank everyone who supported their “Free Taco Tuesday” campaign, Taco Bell is giving away a free Nacho Cheese Doritos Locos Taco to their customers every Tuesday from Aug. 15 to Sept. 5.
Fans can get the freebie at participating Taco Bell branches and on delivery orders made through the Taco Bell app. There is no minimum purchase required to avail of the promo, although delivery fees, taxes, and tips will still apply. Also, you can only get one taco per person, per day, while supplies last.

The promotion will culminate in a grand Taco Tuesday giveaway on Sept. 12 that they will execute in partnership with online food delivery service DoorDash. The event does not even require you to order from Taco Bell.
On this day, the two companies will cover $5 million worth of orders of Mexican food from participating vendors. According to Taco Bell, they are celebrating in this manner because, “when tacos win, we all win.”
