Going for the Nobel Peace Prize? Here are the Trump allies helping him achieve it
Several political leaders have nominated President Donald Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize.

President Donald Trump has received backing from several political leaders for a Nobel Peace Prize nomination. Over the past few months, world leaders and U.S. lawmakers have nominated the former president, praising his efforts to promote peace in various regions.
Among those who have nominated Trump are Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who cited Trump’s role in the 2020 Abraham Accords, and Gabonese President Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema. Before launching airstrikes on Iran, Pakistan’s leader had also nominated Trump for what it described as a “decisive diplomatic intervention” amid tensions with India—though that nomination was later withdrawn following the strikes.
On Capitol Hill, some Republican leaders have also nominated the president, including Buddy Carter, Darrell Issa, and Claudia Tenney.
In June, Trump remarked, “I won’t get a Nobel Peace Prize no matter what I do,” referencing his role in brokering a treaty between the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Rwanda.
He added on Truth Social:
“I won’t get a Nobel Peace Prize for this,” listing conflicts from those between India and Pakistan, as well as Serbia and Kosovo, adding that “no matter what [he does]” won’t be awarded the prize.
He added, however, that “people know” about his accomplishments, and that for him, that is “all that matters.”
How is the Nobel Peace Prize awarded?
According to the Nobel Foundation, anyone who meets specific criteria can nominate a candidate for the Peace Prize—no invitation is required. Valid nominators include:
- Members of national assemblies and governments of sovereign states, and current heads of state
- Members of the International Court of Justice and the Permanent Court of Arbitration in The Hague
- Members of the Institute of International Law
- University professors in history, social sciences, law, philosophy, theology, and religion
- Directors of peace research institutes and foreign policy institutes
- Past Nobel Peace Prize laureates
- Members and former advisers of the Norwegian Nobel Committee.
