Growing concern that Israel will run out of interceptors before Iran uses all of its missiles

Update:

For almost a week now, Israel and Iran have been firing missiles at each other as tensions escalate across the Middle East. Under the so-called “existential threat” Israel faces—if one is to believe Benjamin Netanyahu—the country has been burning through its supply of Arrow 3 rockets, which have been deployed to intercept Iranian fire.

However, according to The Wall Street Journal, there is concern over the number of interceptor missiles Netanyahu’s military has at its disposal, and whether the country may run out before Iran exhausts its firepower. The report states that “the United States, which has been helping Israel, is also expending its munitions.” It adds that the number of Israeli interceptors—when compared to Iranian missiles—also includes any U.S. interceptor missiles.

Arrow 3, Arrow 2, David’s Sling, and the Iron Dome are all part of Israel’s elite military defence arsenal, with the government claiming a 90% success rate. Despite that, they say threats from the Houthis are also a concern and have not disclosed the number of Arrow 3s—which cost $2 million apiece—that they possess.

It must be said that while Netanyahu claims Iran is on the verge of producing enough fissile material for nuclear weapons, this is a narrative he has been pushing since 2012.

Israel continues Palestinian purge

Meanwhile, Israel continues what many are calling a genocide of the people of Gaza, with cases of starvation and seemingly indiscriminate killings continuing despite its concerns regarding Iran.

Eleven Palestinians were killed or injured on Tuesday morning after Israeli forces opened fire on a crowd waiting for food trucks in central Gaza, according to The Guardian, which adds that “more than a hundred Palestinians have died in recent days after being targeted by the Israeli military in Gaza as they gathered near food distribution centres or on routes along which trucks were expected to travel.”

All of this is happening while Netanyahu—who has seen an arrest warrant requested against him by the ICC for war crimes—continues to speak about the existential threat posed by Iran, even as he appears content to carry on the purge of the Palestinian people.
