Here are all the road closures, metro service changes, and bus detours that will take place on Saturday, 14 June, for the US Army Parade.


On Saturday, June 14, Washington, D.C., will celebrate the 250th anniversary of the U.S. Army with a grand parade. Organized and promoted by the White House, the event will take place around the National Mall. Attendees should be aware that the parade will cause disruptions to public transportation services and will result in road closures.
Which roads will be closed?
Starting on Friday, June 13, at midnight, the Metro Police Department has announced the following closures:
- Independence Avenue between 23 Street and 12 Street, Southwest
- 14 Street south of Pennsylvania Avenue, Northwest
- Rock Creek Parkway south of Virginia Avenue, Northwest
Emergency and unauthorized vehicles will not be able to access these roads until 6:00 am on Monday, June 16.
Starting at 6:00 pm on Friday, June 13, the George Washington Memorial Parkway will be closed for travelers driving in both directions between U.S. 50 and I-395 through Saturday, June 15 at 6:00 am.

The DC Metro will increase service over the weekend, and parade attendees are encouraged to use it to reduce traffic and parking complications near the National Mall.
If you plan to arrive at the Smithsonian Station, you should be aware that the Mall Entrance at Jefferson Drive will be closed, but the exit at Independence Avenue at 12 Street SW will remain open.
The city recommends that festival attendees use the L’Enfant Plaza, Federal Center SW, or Archives-Navy Memorial metro stops. For those looking to view the parade, your best options are hopping off the metro at Farragut North, Federal Triangle, and Archives-Navy Memorial.
