Everything you need to know about the 2024 Oscars

An actor who has dedicated himself to his profession and made his debut in 1991 with a small role in ‘Dogfight’, but only a year later, in 1992, he participated in the film ‘School Ties’ alongside other actors such as Ben Affleck, Matt Damon, and Chris O’Donnell. He then appeared in other projects such as ‘With Honors’ (1994), where he was the lead, and which featured other famous faces such as Adam Sandler; and in ‘The Scout’ (1994).

An action man from the start

Three years later, Fraser hit the jackpot, starring in one of his most famous films, ‘George of the Jungle’, which grossed $174 million worldwide, and catapulted him back to fame, which he maintained for several years, as in 1999 he would release ‘The Mummy’, where he plays legionnaire Rick O’Connell, and which grossed $416 million.

But that wasn’t the end of it, and just two years later, the acclaimed actor once again played O’Connell in the second installment of ‘The Mummy’, which proved the saying “sequels are never as good” wrong, as it became the highest-grossing film of the actor’s filmography, with a total of $433 million worldwide.

In the following years, Fraser took on smaller roles that relegated him to the background, and he also had to deal with other episodes that ended up damaging the actor’s mental health, who fell into depression due to a mixture of bad moments, such as the sexual assault he suffered at the hands of the president of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, Philip Berk in 2003, the death of his mother, and a divorce from Afton Smith that became a nightmare.

A huge comeback for Fraser

All of this kept him away from the cinema for several years, until he decided to make a statement with works such as ‘The Whale’, which have catapulted him back onto the scene, and have also taken him to various awards ceremonies such as the Oscars, where landed his first golden statue.
