Hunter Biden, who was today found guilty of all three charges in his illegal gun possession trial, has been married to Melissa Cohen Biden, a South African filmmaker, since 2019. Cohen Biden has been a staunch supporter of her husband throughout the week-long court case in Wilmington, Delaware, with Biden describing her as his “protector”, per the BBC.

At one point of the trial, Cohen Biden was even seen angrily confronting a former aide to ex-president Donald Trump at the courthouse. “You have no right to be here, you Nazi piece of shit,” she told him, according to Newsweek.

Biden, 54, who is the oldest living child of US president Joe Biden, has one son with Cohen Biden. Born in March 2020, four-year-old Beau is named after Hunter’s older brother, who died of brain cancer in 2015.

Cohen Biden, 38, is Hunter Biden’s second wife. He married his first wife, Kathleen Buhle, in 1993, before the pair separated 22 years later. Their divorce was finalised in 2017. He and Buhle have three daughters together: Naomi, 30; Finnegan, 23; and Maisy, 22.

Buhle tesified at Biden’s trial, as did his former lover, Hallie Biden, who is his older brother’s widow.

It was Hallie Biden who disposed of the gun that Biden bought illegally in October 2018, throwing the Colt revolver into a dumpster. She testified that she “panicked” when she searched his vehicle and found a firearm in the glove compartment. “I didn’t want him to hurt himself, and I didn’t want my kids to find it and hurt themselves,” the mother of two said.
