Americans will be celebrating the Fourth of July national holiday, commemorating the date that the Declaration of Independence was signed, on Thursday. And it wouldn’t be the 4th of July without watching a fireworks display. Fortunately, just about anywhere you go on Independence Day there will be a spectacle near you.
Unfortunately, there is no concise online database of all the celebrations on offer this year, so we’ve pulled together a list of some of the biggest and best fireworks displays in the nation if you are hoping to catch the live show.
Birmingham, Alabama – Thunder on the Mountain 2025
The largest city in the state uses the iconic Vulcan cast iron statue as a backdrop for a breathtaking fireworks display, staged in honor of those who have fought for US independence. The fireworks show, in which over 2,500 artillery shells and effects will be used, will be televised on local stations from 9 p.m.

Boston, Massachusetts – Fireworks and Pops Concert
On July 4, 2025, Boston will host its traditional Boston Pops Fireworks Spectacular at the DCR Hatch Shell on the Charles River Esplanade. This free event features a live concert starting at 7 p.m. followed by a spectacular fireworks show around 9:40 p.m. The “Oval” viewing area opens at noon for attendees. While the lineup of performers for this year has not yet been announced, the event will follow the same format and schedule as last year, which included Kelli O’Hara, The Mavericks, and Darlene Love. Clear Lake, Iowa – Flashing Thunder Fireworks
