What you should know about the HSF Scholarships for Hispanics in the USA

Each year, the Hispanic Scholarship Fund (HSF) selects 10,000 outstanding students as scholarship recipients. According to the HSF website, scholarship recipients will have “access to HSF’s invaluable Scholar Support Services and be eligible to receive a scholarship, depending on available funds.”

Some of the academic support services include career services, mentoring, leadership development, knowledge building, and wellness training. Career services include access to select internships and job opportunities with HSF corporate partners.

Additionally, HSF Fellows are eligible to apply to all academic conferences, including the STEM Summit, Finance Conference, Media and Entertainment Summit, Business Summit, and Healthcare Summit. They are also eligible for financial support.

HSF scholarships for Hispanics in the United States: amounts, requirements and deadlines to apply

HSF awards more than $30 million in scholarships annually, and depending on available funding, HSF Scholars may also be eligible to receive a scholarship, ranging from $500 to $5,000, which is awarded directly to the students.

Scholars are selected on the basis of merit and award amounts are awarded based on need.

Eligibility Requirements for HSF Scholarships

The student must:

  • Be of Hispanic descent.
  • A U.S. citizen, legal permanent resident, or recipient of Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA).
  • Have a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent) for high school students.
  • Have a minimum GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent) for undergraduate and graduate students.

You must also plan to enroll full-time in an accredited public or not-for-profit university, four-year or graduate school, in the United States, for the academic year in which you will apply for the scholarship .

In addition, you must submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or state financial aid forms, if applicable.

Deadlines to apply for HSF scholarships

According to the HSF web portal, the application deadline for the 2023 program was February 15, the selection will be made in June, the documents must be delivered from June to November and the prizes will be awarded in December 2023.

For the application for the 2024 program , we recommend you visit the HSF web portal. Generally, the program is available starting in January.
