Hurricane Milton: Emergency numbers you can call in the United States
In anticipation of Hurricane Milton’s arrival and the impending danger the storm poses, here are emergency resources available in the state of Florida
Milton is moving quickly toward the west coast of Florida, where it will make landfall during the early hours of Thursday, Oct. 10. According to projections by the National Hurricane Center, Milton will hit land near Tampa between 2 a.m. and 6 a.m.
The storm is expected to bring destructive storm surge, with inundation levels of up to 10 feet or more, along the west-central coast of the Florida peninsula. Milton is expected to be the worst storm to hit the Sunshine State.

The NHC is warning of life-threatening hurricane-force winds, heavy rainfall across the Florida peninsula with a risk of catastrophic and life-threatening flash and urban flooding, along with moderate to major river flooding.
In the face of the inevitable catastrophe to be caused by Milton, the government has launched a plan to respond to the hurricane emergency, including the implementation of 155 shelters with the capacity to house up to 200,000 people.
