Two huge car companies are having to recall more than 3 million cars due to risks of engine fires. Internal brake fluid leaks are the problem, potnetially causing an electrical short that could result in fire. No one has yet been injured or hurt.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) said owners should follow the advice and park vehicles outside until repairs are complete.

Both companies reported at least 51 fires related to the recall. Kia America’s recall covers 1.73 million units while Hyundai is another 1.64 million; 3.37 million as a combined total. They are part of the Hyundai Motor Group and engineering and parts is often shared.

This isn’t the first time these manufacturers have had recall problems. Hundreds of thousands of vehicles were recalled in both 2022 and 2021 due to problems with electrical circuits, once again causing fires.
