Update:

More details have emerged regarding President Donald Trump and his links to Jeffrey Epstein, according to a new report from the Wall Street Journal.

The report begins: “When Justice Department officials reviewed what Attorney General Pam Bondi called a “truckload” of documents related to Jeffrey Epstein earlier this year, they discovered that Donald Trump’s name appeared multiple times, according to senior administration officials."

Administration officials told the WSJ that Attorney General Pam Bondi informed President Trump in a White House meeting in May that his name was included in the Epstein files, along with the names of other high-profile figures.

Trump was also told at that meeting that the files included unverified allegations about many people, including him, the sources said.

The Trump administration has been quick to dismiss those claims with White House communications director Steven Cheung calling it “fake news”. However it is just the latest in a series of accusations about Trump’s links to Epstein.

The President has maintained that the two men were not close. However, images and videos of the two together at events have emerged. Recently, CNN revealed photographs of Jeffrey at Trump’s wedding to Marla Maples in 1993.

Questions about the relationship between the US president and Epstein have intensified in recent days after the Trump administration asserted that the 'Epstein list’ does not exist. However Trump’s Attorney General Pamela Bondi had previously confirmed that the list did exist and that it was sitting on her desk, ready to be reviewed ahead of its release.

In February Bondi, in conjunction with the FBI, released the first phase of files related to Jeffrey Epstein and promised to share more documents. However in early July the Department of Justice shared a memo claiming that a systematic review had found that there is no credible ‘Epstein list’.

For once, Trump is separated from his supporters on an issue and is struggling to change the agenda. The President issued a flurry of social media posts over the weekend in an attempt to shift the narrative but there remains a real question over the findings of the Epstein investigation.
