It wasn’t on Black Friday: this was the day of the week when a record $6.1 billion was spent shopping in the US
Americans are expected to spend a record amount this holiday season shopping. Even before Black Friday, they’ve already forked out billions.

Shoppers in the United States have five fewer days between Thanksgiving and Christmas to get all of their holiday shopping done this year. However, they aren’t wasting any time, spending over $90 billion before the Thanksgiving holiday weekend According to Adobe Analytics.
That’s just a fraction of the total that Americans are forecast to fork out in 2024. The National Retail Federation (NRF) is predicting that consumers in the United States will spend up to $989 billion during November and December this year.
One of the biggest shopping days of the year is Black Friday, where shoppers burn off the excess calories they ingested the day before racing to find the best deals. The NRF forecasted that roughly 132 million Americans would do their shopping on this annual consumer extravaganza. But many didn’t wait to digest their Thanksgiving meal.

Thanksgiving Day saw a record $6.1 billion spent by shoppers despite many stores choosing to stay closed for the holiday. While the brick-and-mortar locations kept their doors shut, shoppers were still able to go online, buy what they wanted and then able to pick it up at their leisure, thus avoiding the in-store crowds.
