Japan Airlines plane bursts into flames: what happened in Tokyo airport?
After images of the large earthquake and warnings of a tsunami on 1 January, more headlines have been made in the country’s Haneda airport.


A Japan Airlines flight carrying over 300 passengers was engulfed in flames upon landing at Tokyo’s Haneda Airport. Footage captured by NHK shows fire visible through the plane’s windows and at the tail section.

Four killed as Japan passenger plane hits Coast Guard aircraft
Flight JAL 516, which had taken off from Hokkaido at 4 p.m. local time (2 a.m. ET), is believed to have collided with another aircraft upon landing at Haneda, according to initial hypotheses reported by authorities.
The other plane said to have been hit was a Japan Coast Guard aircraft, one that was involved in helping with the earthquake relief efforts. There were six members on board, and five have since been confirmed to have been killed in the collision.

Japan Airlines has stated that all 367 passengers and the 13 crew members on board have been evacuated.
