On Thursday morning, April 27, the death of beloved television host and former Cincinnati mayor Jerry Springer was confirmed. The television star passed away at the age of 79, in his residence in the suburbs of Chicago, after losing his battle against cancer.

The news was confirmed by a source close to the Springer family for various media outlets.

“Jerry’s ability to connect with people was at the heart of his success in everything he tried whether that was politics, broadcasting or just joking with people on the street who wanted a photo or a word,” said Jene Galvin to People Magazine.
