Jon Stewart calls out the GOP: “These guys don’t give a f**k about free speech, they care about THEIR speech”

When we had President Biden, free speech was ‘under threat’ and you couldn’t ‘say anything’ anymore. It was the Left Wing Lunatics, as Trump likes to write, who were silencing you and allowing the Orwellian Thought Police to spread their message of censorship across America like mind-controlling storm cloud, probably made by a tech bro. We were going back to the dark ages.

Now, under Trump, free speech is back, baby. You can say ‘whatever you want’ to whoever you want and everything is fine - right? Yes, as long as those words don’t include ‘latinx’, ‘sex’, ‘women’, ‘DEI’, ‘black’, ‘expression’, ‘political’, ‘anti-racism’. The list goes on.

Comedian Jon Stewart, on his ‘The Daily Show’, analysed this horrific - but entirely true - show of hypocrisy that the Trump administration has taken. According to The New York Times, “President Trump seeks to purge the federal government of ‘woke’ initiatives” as “agencies have flagged hundreds of words to limit or avoid.”

“These guys don’t give a f**k about free speech, Stewart says, ”they care about THEIR speech. It’s so old-school, such blatant hypocrisy."

“What’s left?” asks Stewart, before joking “how can [Trump’s] cabinet ministers describe [their] weekends without using words such as “sex”, “women” and “#MeToo”?.

He adds that “you can’t protest in a way that offends the right; you can’t teach things that the right doesn’t want you to teach; you can’t read things that they don’t want you to read; you can’t use words that they don’t want you to use... but they LOVE FREE SPEECH!”

Stewart then warns about Trump’s obsession with social media, saying that “the one area of free speech that they want to protect completely is the area that supports them and isn’t actually ‘free’: social media is algorithmic."

“It’s manipulative, it draws you into Republican ideology”, he continued. “It’s a machine designed to stimulate the reptilian parts of your brain that would otherwise beg you to go outside. It’s like being impressed that casinos give out free food. Social media isn’t the town square, an open forum of ideas, it’s got a plan."
