Neither California nor Florida: this is the best-kept nudist paradise in the United States
The U.S. is home to thousands of official and unofficial nude beaches, but one attracts more than 1 million visitors a year.

While nude beaches are common in many countries, the U.S. has relatively few options. Still, we’ve rounded up three of the highest-rated beaches where you can soak up the sun in the nude. Across the US, there are hundreds of clothing-optional beaches, including some around the Great Lakes.
However, there is one option that attracts millions of visitors a year, standing far above the other nude beaches scattered across the country: Haulover Beach in Miami, Florida.
The city’s Haulover Beach webpage notes that the northern part of the beach is “world-renowned” and “family-friendly.” Visitors will be greeted by “well-trained volunteers” who provide information on beach etiquette, ensuring a safe and respectful experience for all ages. According to World Population Review, the state has over 500 clothing-optional beaches, but be sure to do your research – some of those listed are just areas with less clothing rule enforcement.

Other famous nude beaches in the U.S.
Our first pick is Moshup Beach on Martha’s Vineyard, off the Massachusetts coast. The beach’s website and the surrounding cliffs caution visitors that beyond a certain point, “you may see people sunbathing without clothes.” If you’re interested in participating, park and head towards the cliffs.
Our last US beach pick is Blacks Beach in La Jolla, California. The Golden State has around 250 clothing-optional beaches, with Blacks Beach being a favorite among naturists.
If these don’t fit your travel plans, there are still plenty of other options. According to World Population Review, there are thousands of nude beaches across the country, with Washington state leading the nation in the number of clothing-optional swimming spots.
