Update:

The workplace is ever changing as technological advancements take hold with artificial intelligence (AI), and technological development set to impact on the way we work.

Many traditional jobs will be impacted by this development with the likes of Data Entry Clerks becoming one of the roles set to diminish or disappear as AI-powered Optical Character Recognition (OCR) and automated data processing systems are becoming increasingly efficient and accurate. This will also impact on Administrative Assistants and Legal Secretaries as AI-powered software can handle scheduling, record-keeping, and many other administrative duties such as File Clerks with digital document management systems are making physical filing obsolete.

Other traditional positions such as telephone operators, telemarketing, cashiers and book-keepers may also see a shift in their respective professions as their roles will transition with AI.

In many cases, jobs won’t vanish entirely but will evolve significantly, requiring different skills. For example, bank tellers may transition to more customer service and advisory roles and new jobs will emerge in areas like AI development, robotics engineering, data science, cybersecurity, and maintenance of automated systems.

21 roles that are expected to change drastically in the future:

Postal service clerks
Bank tellers and related clerks
Data entry clerks
Retail cashiers and ticket clerks
Administrative assistants and executive secretaries
Printing and related trades workers
Accounting, bookkeeping and payroll clerks
