Neither North Dakota nor Kansas, this is the longest straight road in the world
The United States may have the most extensive roadway network in the world, but it is not home to the longest stretch without a single curve.
If you’ve ever driven across the United States, when you cross any of the states in the Great Plains it may seem like the roads go on forever with barely a curve visible as far as the eye can see. However, the longest, straightest road in the world is not located within The Lower 48.
The 149-mile road without a curve
The distinction of “longest straight road” actually goes to Highway 10 in Saudi Arabia, a road originally built for the private use of King Fahd. According to the Guiness World Records, the 149-mile road through the desert has “no bends left or right, or any appreciable gradient up or down.”

The super-straight stretch of road goes from Highway 75 near Haradh, southeast of Riyad, over to Highway 95 in the east near the Persian Gulf coast. It’s estimated that it takes around 2 hours to drive from one end to the other of Highway 10.
Other record holding roads
Dangerous Roads actually lists Saudia Arabia’s Highway 10 as the second longest road without any curves. Top of their list is Highway 85, also located in Saudia Arabia. The 510-mile stretch runs from Arar, in the heart of the desert south of the border with Iraq, to Al Nairyah in the east near the Persian Gulf coast. Even the areas where there are bends, they “are very long sweepers.”
According to Dangerous Roads’ longest straight roads in the world, the US only has four of the top ten with the longest being ND-46 W at number four which goes for 121 miles without a curve. Saudi Arabia has three roads in the top ten while Australia, Mexico and Paraguay each have one.
