Nicole Simpson, nurse leader, on National Nurses Week, “There’s no greater reward than being able to help others”

Nurses are valued healthcare professionals who are hardworking, committed and dedicated to helping others. They not only have to treat patients but also navigate complex family dynamics while caring for them during their illness.

Despite the challenges, Nicole Simpson, a nurse manager at St. Vincent’s Medical Center Hartford HealthCare shared with WTNH News8 that “there’s no greater reward than being able to help others during some of the most important and vulnerable moments of their lives.”

In honor of their service and with National Nurses Week here some restaurants would like to give them another type of reward through special deals at their establishments. Here’s a look.

National Nurses Week restaurant deals, discounts, and freebies: Shake Shack, Chipotle, Buffalo Wild Wings…

There is nothing like a coffee to start the day or keep you going. While Starbuck’s hasn’t announced a nationwide offer, Caribou Coffee is giving nurses who show a valid ID a free large coffee of the day or cold press at participating locations on May 6.

During the rest of the month, nurses can also take advantage of a 30% off special sitewide at Free Rein Coffee starting May 13 in addition to the year-round 20% for ID.me discount for those who serve our country and communities.

Those looking to pick-up a quick snack there are several deals available. At participating locations of Dog Haus nurses can save 20% off their order through May 8. Einstein Bros. Bagels is offering nurses who show a valid work ID a free bagel and shmear when they purchase any item on May 6. And with any purchase while ordering in-shop at Shake Shack nurses who show a valid ID will get a free Single ShackBurger or Veggie Shack through May 12.

Want to enjoy a meal with family, friends or co-workers, check out these deals. Nurses who show a valid ID through May 10 will get 20% off their order at Buffalo Wild Wings when they dine in. Through May 7, MOD Pizza is offering a buy-one, get-one-free offer on pizzas to nurses when they show a valid ID in stores.

At Potbelly, when you show a valid ID and purchase any entrée in-store, nurses can get a free cookie or regular-sized fountain drink. When you dine in at Ruby Tuesday nurses will get a free add-on Garden Bar with the purchase of an entrée on May 6 when they show a valid ID and use promo code THANKYOU26.

And finally, nurses and teachers can enter online through May 12 for a chance to win an e-gift card redeemable for a free entrée at Chipotle. The restaurant is giving away 100,000 (up to $1 million) to nurses and a matching number of teachers.

What is National Nurses Week and why is it celebrated?

The American Nurse Association designated May 6 to 12 as permanent dates to celebrate National Nurses Week.
