As the winter season approaches, severe weather continues to grip certain regions of the United States. Such is the case of New York, where the National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a storm warning, with severe weather hitting the northeastern region of the country between Sunday, December 10, and Monday, the 11th.

According to information from the New York NWS, the storm will affect the tri-state area (New York, New Jersey and Connecticut), starting Sunday afternoon, causing flooding in several areas of the state, so New Yorkers are urged to take precautions and not leave home if it is not really necessary. The heavy rains are expected to last approximately 24 hours, so the alert extends until Monday afternoon.

Snow threat to northern NY

In addition to the severe storms, the northern region of the state may see snow fall. “We are tracking a major weather system that will affect much of the state on Sunday and Monday. Snow, rain and gusts of wind could cause flooding, dangerous travel and power outages. Agencies are ready to help localities if necessary,” said New York Governor Kathy Hochul, via social networks.
