Rachel Maddow claims the movement against Trump is unstoppable: “Game over big guy, you lose”

“We have never seen a President less politically skilled, less politically equipped, than this one, to turn this around.”

Maybe that could have been enough. Oh no. MSNBC host Rachel Maddow went further: “he has panicked. He’s trying to hit the eject button. Someone convinced him that attacking immigrants would work for him, politically, that the American people would be bloodthirsty, that we love it. That the crueller he was to immigrants, the more political capital he would accrue.”

The passionate speech from Maddow comes after protests erupted in Los Angeles. ICE Agents were sent into public areas to make arrests and protester numbers grew like wildfire in opposition to Trump’s decision to arrest foreigners. Instead of backing away against the people he supposedly serves, Trump ordered in the National Guard, the state-based military force, before making the Marines step in. Self-driving vehicles were set on fire and a major highway was shut down by protesters over the weekend.

“Instead” Maddow added, “what we’re seeing is the opposite: in town after town, in blue states and red states, in school after school, , in parish after parish, in city after city, it has run him into a wall; the American people do not want this kind of cruelty against the immigrants who live among us, who are our neighbours and friends.

“And facing that kind of heart, that kind of resolve, that kind of non-violent, good cheer, ‘I could do this forever’ spirit, he has no idea what to do.

‘Game over, big guy. You lose’

Remember in his first term, when the hurricane came, and he said he wanted to nuke it? That’s the genius level we’re dealing with here. Great idea, genius. Now we’re in his second term and he’s trying the equivalent. He has no idea what to do with the sustained, growing, intractable, and indomitable protests and opposition of the American people against him. And so he’s decided to fix it by using the army. Sure. Game over, big guy. You lose. The movement against Trump is unstoppable, now more than ever."
