Reactions: Celebrities react to Anne Heche’s death
Actress Anne Heche has died a week after she crashed her car into a house in California, and many in the Hollywood community mourn her passing.
Actress Anne Heche has passed away a week after a horrific car crash into a house in Los Angeles left her in a coma last week.
In the wake of her death, many of her friends, colleagues and others who admired her work paid tribute to the actress and sent condolences to those she left behind.
Ellen DeGeneres, Heche’s partner from 1997 to 2000, wrote on Twitter, “This is a sad day. I’m sending Anne’s children, family and friends all of my love.”
“I’m very sad to hear of the tragic passing of Anne Heche. She was a wonderful actress and I enjoyed working with her tremendously in ‘Wag the Dog’,” said Robert de Niro in a statement.
Ed Helms, who starred with the actress in the 2011 comedy Cedar Rapids, said “Anne Hech news today is so heartbreaking. A truly epic, vibrant spirit and a profound talent. Sending tremendous love and support to her family.”
Dancing with the Stars judge Carrie Ann Inaba wrote a lengthy post on Instagram about the actress who once competed on the show.
“I had no idea all that she had gone through in this lifetime and I felt a connection to her and the struggles she faced in life. Despite her trials and tribulations, she had a bright light when she came out on that stage to dance. Every time she performed, there was a complete joy and a celebration of life. It was pure. And it was special.”
Tennis great Martina Navratilova tweeted, “What a sad and unnecessary tragedy… RIP…”
Rosanna Arquette wrote before the announcement of Heche’s death, “I’m very upset and sad that Anne Heche is not expected to live. And yes, she would have been arrested for driving under the influence and putting lives in danger. She still is a great artist and struggled with addiction. It’s terribly sad for her children and for her friends.”
“My heart goes out to Anne Heche’s children. No child should lose their mother at such a young age,” said musician Kid Vicious.
The outpouring of tributes and messages of condolences is likely to continue from those whose lives Anne Heche has touched, as Hollywood has lost an incredible talent to such a dreadful tragedy.
