Robert F. Kennedy Jr’s family “believe in Harris and Walz” after Trump decision

Robert F. Kennedy Jr, who had been vying for the U.S. presidency as an independent, decided to halt his campaign. He expressed that the odds of winning had become unattainable, citing “relentless, systematic censorship and media control” as the primary reasons for his withdrawal.

Trump gets Bobby Kennedy support

With this decision came another, with him saying that he would now “throw my support to President Trump.” While it’s not fully clear how this will affect the outcome of the 2024 presidential election, some have suggested that those voters who were attracted to his conspiracy and anti-vaccine arguments may now be drawn towards the former president’s populist messaging. Trump had previously said he’d be honoured by his support, clearly eager for every vote.

Our brother Bobby’s decision to endorse Trump today is a betrayal of the values that our father and our family hold most dear.

Kennedy family

But as Democrats downplayed the impact, it was Kennedy’s own family who were quick to come out and cancel out any thoughts that they were in agreement.

‘We want an America filled with hope and bound together by a shared vision of a brighter future, a future defined by individual freedom, economic promise and national pride,’ read the post. ‘We believe in Harris and Walz. Our brother Bobby’s decision to endorse Trump today is a betrayal of the values that our father and our family hold most dear. It is a sad ending to a sad story.’

It was signed by Kathleen, Courtney, Kerry, Chris and Rory.

What have Democrats said about Kennedy’s Trump move?

With the Democrats riding on a wave of optimism following the Kamala Harris-Tim Walz ticket being confirmed, this decision by Bobby Kennedy is very unlikely to derail the campaign.

Not only that, spokesman Michael Tyler believes that it is the right choice for Kennedy’s supporters who wanted someone “who is going to fight for their interests, their values, or they’re looking for somebody who understood as it relates to the personal decisions that they make in their lives, that the government should get the hell out of the way, then there’s a home for them in Kamala Harris campaign.”
