Elon Musk and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis will sit down for a live interview on Twitter, where DeSantis is expected to announce his candidacy for president. The event is the latest for Twitter as Musk attempts to attract users to the social media platform.

Late last year, Donald Trump declared his intention to run for president again and has stated that he regards anyone who tries to challenge him in the primaries as disloyal. This is especially true for Governor DeSantis, who both Trump and the media view as his biggest rival.

When will the virtual event begin?

According to reports from Fox News, the announcement will begin at 6:00 pm ET on Wednesday, 24 May. Twitter Spaces will be used to broadcast the interview, and Musk said that the audience will be able to ask questions in real-time.

Those interested in tuning in should download the Twitter app or visit the website from a desktop or laptop. A link has yet to be released to the Twitter Space where the interview will take place, but as the day progresses, one is likely to be created and will be able to be accessed through Elon Musk or Governor DeSantis’ personal Twitter accounts.

A first for Twitter

During an interview on Tuesday, Musk stated that the upcoming interview with Governor DeSantis would be unscripted and unlike anything previously seen on social media. Musk’s goal is to transform Twitter into a platform similar to YouTube, offering viewers a high-quality experience for long-form content. This is also reflected in former Fox News host Tucker Carlson’s announcement that he will bring his show to Twitter, aligning with Musk’s vision for the platform. He hopes that more individuals will follow suit and begin broadcasting their programs on the platform as well.
