Severe thunderstorm warnings in Michigan: What are the affected areas and when will it be over?

Severe thunderstorms are currently affecting parts of Michigan, with warnings issued for a dozen counties.

Southeast Michigan is currently grappling with a series of severe thunderstorms that have prompted warnings across multiple counties.

The following counties in Southeast Michigan were under severe thunderstorm warnings, though many have now expired:

  • Wayne County
  • Oakland County
  • Macomb County
  • Washtenaw County
  • Livingston County
  • Monroe County
  • Lenawee County
  • Lapeer County
  • Sanilac County
  • St. Clair County
  • Genesee County

There is a risk of thunderstorms on Wednesday.

The storms, characterized by wind gusts reaching up to 60 mph and the potential for large hail, have already caused significant disruptions. As of 5 p.m., over 200,000 power customers across Michigan were reported to be without electricity.
