The number of teenagers that work in the United States has shrunk significantly over the past two decades from over 50% to a little more than one in three. Most of them find jobs that will give them some pocket change to be able to go out with friends or build up a college fund.
However, there are some that have become highly successful in what they do and built immense fortunes at the same time. Here’s a look at five of the wealthiest teenagers in America today according to Stacker.
These are the 5 wealthiest American teen entrepreneurs: How did they make their money?
Donald ‘Donlad’ Dougher
Donald ‘Donlad’ Dougher dubbed himself the “Richest Kid in America” when he was just 15 years old. At that time his YouTube channel had swelled to around 600,000 subscribers and he was raking in up to $20,000 a month.
He built his online following, known as ‘Laditors’, and wealth with viral challenges and silly pranks as well as vlogs about his lavish lifestyle. While he hasn’t posted new content on his channel for some time, the now 18-year-old Donlad’s net worth is estimated to be around $1.2 million.
Isabella Barrett
Isabelle Barret became a self-made millionaire at the young age of 9. She rose to fame as a breakout star on ‘Toddlers and Tiaras’ and started her own business Glitzy Girl, the brand name for her line of jewelry. She sold that business in 2016 and invested her earnings in other companies.
She also competed in beauty pageants as a child and then began modeling which she still does today. Nearing 18, she has launched her own clothing line, the House of Baretti. Stackler estimates that her net worth is roughly $2 million.
Alina Morse
Being conscientious of your dental health can pay off not only with fewer costly visits to the dentist but also to your bank account with the right idea. That’s the case of Alina Morse, who at age 7 was offered a lollipop at her local bank, but it had sugar and her parents were always telling her that the sweetener was bad for her teeth.
That prompted her to ask her dad “Why can’t we make a lollipop that’s actually good for your teeth?” And thus Zolli Pops was born which is now “the best-selling sugar-free, healthy candy in the United States.” Stacker estimates that the now 19-year-old entrepreneur is worth around $6 million.
Evan Moana
Evan Moana, and his entire family, make their livings off of creating YouTube content. By the time he was 8 years old he was making $1.3 million a year with his videos, according to Business Insider.
On his ‘EvanTubeHD’ channel, which currently has over 7 million subscribers, he shares toy reviews and fun science experiments among other content. Now at 19, he is estimated to be worth $12 million.
Ryan Kaji
The wealthiest teen entrepreneur by a mile is Ryan Kaji, who just recently became a proper teenager. His hobby of watching YouTube toy reviews turned into his profession at age 4 when his mother let him upload his own video clips. Since then, his channel ‘Ryan’s World' has amassed a following of 38.2 million subscribers.
He also launched his own line of toys in 2018, becoming the first digital creator to do so. The brand has earned over $1 billion according to Sunlight. He and his family starred in a movie released this year called ‘Ryan’s World the Movie: Titan Universe Adventure’. The exact amount of his fortune is not known, but it is believed to be in excess of $100 million.
