These are the areas of the US that can expect the ‘heaviest snowfall in over a decade’ according to experts
A massive storm is bringing snow, ice and rain to a large part of the U.S. affecting millions, with some areas experiencing the heaviest snowfall in years.
A massive winter storm extending 1,300 miles across the country is expected to affect much of the country through Monday.
The National Weather Service says those in the storm’s path should expect heavy snowfall and perilous icy conditions, as well as torrential rain and strong winds from the weather system that spans the east of the Rocky Mountains through the Mid-Atlantic region.
The NWS predicts the storm will cause heavy snowfall in the northern High Plains and Central Plains and bring icy rain to parts of the middle Mississippi Valley and Ohio Valley on Sunday.

Northeastern Kansas through north-central Missouri in particular could potentially experience over 15 inches of snow.

The central Plains can bring blizzard and whiteout conditions, which could cause perilous driving conditions.
The National Weather Service says the areas most affected by the storm should prepare for disruptions, including power outages and tree damage.
The agency recommends putting off non-essential travel, but if it is absolutely necessary, drivers are advised to proceed with extreme caution. Travelers are urged to ensure their vehicles are fitted for winter weather, and to bring along an emergency kit.
