Thousands of clients of Maxim Healthcare Services are about to receive a payment of up to $5,000 in compensation for a data breach.

According to information obtained by The Sun, the private medical personnel company based in Columbia, Maryland; agreed to pay 2020 data breach claims filed in a class action lawsuit by residents of the state of California.

According to legal documents, the company failed to protect its customers’ information during a cyberattack, giving criminals access to the personal and medical data of tens of thousands of customers. The lawsuit alleges that Maxim could have prevented the data leak by taking appropriate security measures, however, the company denies any wrongdoing. At least 65,000 customers were affected.

These individuals will receive up to $5,000 in compensation.

Maxim Healthcare Services email accounts were compromised between October 1, 2020 and December 4, 2020, but the breach was not discovered until November 2021.

If you were a Maxim customer during the above period, you may have been a victim of a data breach. If you did not receive an email or postcard notifying you of the class action, you can call 833-630-8181 directly to inquire about your eligibility.

The settlement provides compensation of up to $5,000 for extraordinary expenses incurred. Also offered will be $20 per hour in lost time expenses for up to three hours; that is, for a maximum of $60 dollars. Note that individuals who were California residents between October 1, 2020 and December 4, 2020 are entitled to receive a fixed monetary benefit of approximately $100.
