This is the community open to white people only, called ‘Return to the Land’: “We have control over who our neighbors are”
A whites-only community is being built in Arkansas. Critics call it racist, illegal, and a return to segregation under the guise of “traditional values.”

Being openly racist takes on a whole new meaning in the Ozarks of Arkansas, where a “whites-only neighborhood” is being built.
Though the Jim Crow era officially ended decades ago, this new development shows that the racist ideology that upheld apartheid for so long is still very much alive. Christopher Webb, a Democratic social media personality, reported on the segregated housing project.
In a post on X, Webb called the idea “vile” and noted the irony that while these individuals believe “they’re better than everyone else because of their skin color,” they fail to recognize that they’re building their “‘Return the Land’ town on stolen land.”
I really want to say something vile about the kind of people who think they’re better than everyone else because of their skin color.

But let’s just sit with the irony for a second.
These white supremacists are building a whites-only “Return to the Land” town—on stolen land.… pic.twitter.com/AYbsBdGF1V
“The Ozarks, like most of America, are Native land. Their ancestors didn’t return to it. They took it—through forced removal, broken treaties, and violence. A cult town of racists, cosplaying as pioneers,” Webb wrote, while outlining the history of the land where the town is being constructed.
Who is the Return to the Land group?
According to their website, the group aims “to facilitate individuals and groups that share common ancestry to purchase land in rural areas.” Rather than explicitly identifying as white nationalists, they frame their identity around “traditional values and European ancestry.” Their stated goal is to “return to the land to separate ourselves from a failing modern society.”
Is the project legal?

They also express a desire “to create many independent and fully functioning parallel societies,” which would presumably operate alongside the U.S. government or state authorities. However, such arrangements are illegal under U.S. law, as the Constitution does not permit the creation of separatist or “parallel” jurisdictions. The U.S. Constitution establishes a single, unified legal framework under which all states and localities must operate, and it does not permit private entities to form autonomous governments or legal systems outside of federal or state authority. Additionally, the Constitution, as well as the Fair Housing Act of 1968, prohibits explicit discrimination in housing—something these communities would inherently promote.
